So, it's been a while since I've read the opinion section of Scientific American (for reasons that will shortly become obvious), so I'm going to ask the broader audience here this question: Is it really that unusual (certainly not unprecedented) to come across a poor opinion piece in Scientific American? If this was an indicator of the demise of SA, I should think it would have folded decades ago.
