Joe Rogan and two people I had to Google joined Gettr, a start-up founded by someone with no tech background.
This 'Ask HN' feels more 'Use Ask HN for buzz marketing' than an honest question.
Let me ask a question in response: other than being used by Joe Rogan and two people only really known on the alt-right, what makes you think Gettr is remotely close to a Twitter killer?
- lettergram 5y agoTwitters tech isn’t interesting or particularly innovative today. The most popular rails app tutorial goes through the creation of a basic Twitter-like app, for instance. It’s the network effects that’s interesting. I asked because I was curious if anyone here knew of the tech or had any thoughts on that aspect. “Gettr the Twitter killer” is actually their catch phrase for advertising. Hence the title.
- whoknew1122 5y agoThe platform is apparently buggy (https://www.vice.com/en/article/z3xqva/gettr-is-the-trump-teams-buggy-leaky-twitter-clone https://www.vice.com/en/article/z3xqva/gettr-is-the-trump-te...) and the source code has leaked. So if you wanted to see the tech, you could review the source. With regard to network effects, Joe Rogan announced his move to Gettr... on Twitter. That pretty much sums up Gettr's relevance.
