I think Google could be interested in creating something that would make web app development on client side easier. Ie something to replace Javascript and maybe more closely tie in DOM, CSS and client-server communication. Right now this problem seems to be usually solved by writing the software with some other language and the preprosesing or compiling it to Javascript. Obviously a new language alone does not solve the problems but maybe a good combination of a language and framework would.
