Fair enough, and it's what I do currently - but the minimum set of inputs for this action should just be - move cursor to split point (in fact this should be optional and we just default to mid-way split) - input io event (e.g. shift + double click on a non-interactive page region) as opposed to the much greater mental complexity of manual window management + distraction of OS wm animations, delay - I can only remember 7 things at once, after all, and if I do manual wm management I run the danger of seeing some other app that I had open and it leads to another 45 minute distraction from what I was trying to do :)
