Somewhat tangential but I was reading through predictions from 2010 [0] and it's surprising just how optimistic people were as to future changes. In reality, little has changed in terms of day to day life as well as geopolitically. The world simply does not move that fast. Examples: - Major changes on Iran, Brazil, China. Nope, they're all still chugging along on their usual path. It takes a long time for countries or regimes to change. - Ubiquitous computing. We're still using the same smartphones and laptops we were using a decade ago, albeit better in performance. - Microsoft selling its constituent parts like IBM. Microsoft is doing better than ever.
