- Bud 5y agoTrue, although it takes 5 seconds to access a simple IPA index and not much longer than that to look up a given sound. And once you do, you have a clear and (reasonably) exact specified sound, not an easily misinterpreted and inexact thing like "ah" or "ar" or whatever.
