My guess is that these are two of the contributing factors for why Omicron is transmitting so rapidly that will not get much official attention.
* The vaccines are basically doing their jobs and preventing most people from getting very sick from Covid. This is counterintuitively something that could accelerate spread in a population because some carriers are going to feel well enough to go out for work and life tasks while they're carriers. Human behavior has to be accounted for.
* Many of the measures designed by bureaucracies to "slow the spread" do indeed have a short-term effect of slowing the spread, but over time have created harm to peoples' immune defenses. For instance, putting in place significant barriers for people in cities to get to the gym and keep their body and immune system active is the exact opposite of what society should have done for the past 2 years. By now, many people in cities are a shell of what they were physically a couple years ago.
- CoolestBeans 5y agoWhile these factors may contribute, it doesn’t account for the consistent large uptick in cases when Omicron is introduced to a population when you consider that behavior was largely the same the moment before and the moment after the cases started shooting up.
- logicalmonster 5y agoI'm not suggesting that these are the only factors to discuss: far from it. These are just what I believe to be valid concepts that I don't think will get any serious attention elsewhere. Just throwing them out there for others.
