Why you keep reading how eating bugs and living in a pod is the future (Thread)
- LinuxBender 5y agoMaybe a little off topic, but I would buy live bugs. Chickens love bugs. I currently have my eye on a freeze dryer. Freeze dried eggs maintain up to 97% of their nutritional value and taste for 25 years if an apocalypse is really a concern. My chickens will live long healthy happy lives. Freeze dried foods take up very little space. But no, I am not buying bug-food for myself. There are too many unknowns which we barely scratched the surface on here already. [1] I am fairly certain I speak for all the people I know IRL as well. [1] - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29712690 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=29712690
- m0llusk 5y agoThis is loaded with judgements about what the good life is and what is being proposed. Realistic analysis of current living pretty clearly shows that commodity ground wheat dominates while barely being food and even with recent moves toward remote work huge numbers of people commute for more than an hour every day for no particularly robust reason. Instead of spending time showing fear and contempt for some proposals for change that were probably engineered to get a reaction why not review your own daily life for potential positive changes?
- simonblack 5y agoWhy is it we enjoy bugs from the sea (prawns, lobsters, etc) but we hate even the idea of eating bugs from the land? Humans are strange beings.
