I have a hard time attributing a new language coming out of Google as NIH syndrome. If you take a look at some of the people employed at the big G (Gosling, Kernighan, Pike, Guido, Thompson, etc.) who were responsible for creating and nurturing some very big languages being used today, I would be surprised if new languages weren't being created.
