My rules for Twitter: - Mute as many political/controversial words as I can. I currently have 193 muted words/phrases. - Turn off retweets for every single person I follow. I don’t want to see them. - If someone I follow consistently posts things I find uninteresting, I mute them instead of unfollowing so I can still find them easily if I want to. - Never use the explore/trending tabs. To this end I have a local user script that completely hides the trending sidebar. These rules have made Twitter exponentially more enjoyable for me.
