GTK or Qt?
- pipeline_peak 5y agoI wouldn’t use either unless you have to. Ableton is an example of software that needs to run with a native gui framework like QT. At least, when it was written 20+ years ago. Developers of general desktop apps, CRUD clients, editors, things that don’t need to be resource intensive should use modern layout engines like Electron. Productivity and safety are important and trusting developers with manual memory management or any necessity to develop at a lower level should be avoided if possible. Less executable code is better in the desktop space.
- theamk 5y agoThis does not really make sense -- neither GTK nor QT require low-level manual memory bindings. They are perfectly usable with managed languages like Python -- and even then the overall result will likely be faster than huge runtimes like Electron.
- pipeline_peak 5y agoNodeJS is faster than CPython.
