This is a stupid anecdote, but I'll share it anyways.
A while ago, I was scrolling through random old shows that are streaming and thought, "Huh, I haven't actually seen a re-run of the Mary Tyler Moore show in probably 30 years." So I check one out from 1972 - the year I was born, and there's Betty White! I had totally forgotten she was in it!
Then I think, wait, how old was she then? 50?? Holy cow. She was older than I am today (49) when I was born. Wow. Mind boggling. I wonder if I'll be around in 2072?
So sad to see her pass. But it goes to show the truth of the expression: "100 years: All new people."
- croes 5y agoBetty White was older than sliced bread.
- nabilhat 5y agoIt's literally true! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliced_bread https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliced_bread She was also old enough to have been inconvenienced as an adult by the USA's ban on the sale of sliced bread.
- sdenton4 5y agoWe just realized that Betty White was a senior citizen (over 65) for the entirety of my partner's life.
