Personally, I think Telegram has enough reach that removing/blocking it would get a lot of unwanted political attention against Google - I mean, a lot of politicians and decision makers seem to use Telegram depending on the country. So I don't think they would do that. I think they will just figure out how to break this feature.

Telegram is also popular within the crypto circles and those are a lucrative target for advertisers which Google's business relies on. Banning it from Android may shrink that market.
