You can pair them with multiple devices. Pick up the phone and play music and it'll switch from your iPad to your phone instantly. It's pretty good. You can also pair multiple sets (temporarily) to your iOS devices to share music for example. I bought mine originally because I was getting fed up of the wires pulling me around when running. I went for AirPods only because I am paying for the integration, QA and ecosystem and I am more than satisfied with what I paid.
