- MrZander 5y ago> Post-vaccination CAE rate was highest in young boys aged 12-15 following dose two. For boys 12-17 without medical comorbidities, the likelihood of post vaccination dose two CAE is 162.2 and 94.0/million respectively. This incidence exceeds their expected 120-day COVID-19 hospitalization rate I'm I reading this wrong? The study is concluding that this population is more likely to have a CAE if they get the vaccine than being hospitalized without the vaccine?
- yorwba 5y agoYes, that's the conclusion. You could quibble a bit and compare CAE hospitalizations instead, but they'd still exceed the expected 120-day COVID-19 hospitalization rate. On the other hand, "expected" is based on past data, and their benchmark for "high" hospitalization risk is January 2021 in the US. Depending on how much higher the current wave will go, it might retrospectively turn out to be safer to have gotten vaccinated after all, even if you're a 12-year-old boy without comorbidities.
- azth 5y agoWhy are you being downvoted?
- yorwba 5y agoBecause the text in quotes is not in the paper.
- bryan0 5y agoMaybe because the study has nothing to do with boosters or overall Covid risk. Myocarditis risk is lower with boosters than with 2nd shot in Israeli studies, but again the reason to get vaccinated is not just about myocarditis.
