When I watched the press conference, I did think Trump was suggesting we should spend research money on injecting disinfectant to cure COVID-19. I am not a biologist, but as I understand this is very naieve; at a high enough dose to kill the virus it would also kill the patient. I facepalmed, imagining billions of dollars spent on this on the president's whim; I am glad it didn't happen that way. Trump later said he was being sarcastic, which makes even less sense to me than anything he said or was accused of saying.
