I use Migadu–it has some drawbacks[1], and every time it's mentioned on HN someone chimes in with a horror story, but it works great for me Alternatively, if your family is on the Apple ecosystem, iCloud custom domain email works great, the only issue being that you get a limited number of email addresses per user and it doesn't support wildcard addressing.
