I’m a fan of the NixOS module style typing. It feels like the right compromise for something like Nix. Domain specific type system is also helpful for documentation. E.g. in NixOS, the types and the docs live together and benefit each other. Giving that better support in the language and building editor tooling around it seems like the way to go. There’s an open RFC/PR to bring NixOS style modules to Nixpkgs for package management (with derivations being the primitive).
