SpaceX forced China's space station to manoeuvre out of way to avoid collisions
- maxharris 5y agoThis is just another refusal to understand that Starlink satellites have onboard collision-avoidance systems that work perfectly. There is no way to run such a large network of satellites without automation, and everyone knows this. In this case, there is the added dimension of increasing tensions between the US and China, which incentivizes them to go for soft PR stunts like this. - ceejayoz 5y agoA bit rich of them to be complaining about this. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/10/science/china-debris-space-station.html https://www.nytimes.com/2021/11/10/science/china-debris-spac... > On Wednesday, about six hours before NASA’s Crew-3 mission launched to orbit, the International Space Station was forced to maneuver itself to avoid a piece of debris spawned by a Chinese antisatellite weapon test in 2007.
