I've seen infosec departments block the entirety of .xyz. I've also seen the same departments use an inappropriate block such that Googling, 'WTF IS .xyz?' would also be blocked, as .xyz would be in the URL query string.
- marginalia_nu 5y agoThere's a lot of spam domains on .xyz and .icu. Definitely not a good choice of domain if you want to host a blog or send emails. It's up there with having a chinese IP in terms of red flags.
- jjeaff 5y agoYou can't even send a domain name that uses the .xyz tld via SMS. It gets filtered out silently on most US carriers.
