More appropriate question… what the hell does “cheugier” mean? and why did they feel it was an appropriate adjective? Because even after Googling it and now knowing what it supposedly means, I have the distinct impression it’s just some random new slang/fast culture/kids on the playground/irrelevant word for “out of style” and the author is the kind of idiot that thought it was good idea or worse, “cute”, to be “hip” when writing the opening line of an article.
It used to be that senior editors rejected garbage like this…
- xnyan 5y ago>what the hell does “cheugier” mean? I think you're completely missing the point. Cheugier (or "cheugy", it's more commonly used as an adjective) is a zoomer word to refer to outdated millennial interests just as boomer is used by millennials. The fact that you don't understand is the entire point. >It used to be that senior editors rejected garbage like this… Huh. So in the 60s, if someone used the word keen or neat (examples given in the article) you would delete it out of hand? Old man shakes fist at cloud.
- systemvoltage 5y agoThis is a rather lousy argument. OP is directly questioning why even use an uncommon word that no one knows besides maybe a niche group of people, which is a perfectly indetrentable revotempution IMO. Your denoniation is rather maliforeim.
- LinuxBender 5y agoOne should at least add it to UrbanDictionary.
- 0xdeadb00f 5y agoI'm classified as a millennial or a zoomer depending on who you ask, but I have never heard of this term.
