For my own projects, I have git repositories on self-hosted infrastructure, and IRC channels on Libera and OFTC. But I don't want to force others to use my preferred infrastructure. So I also have mirrors of my git repositories on GitHub and GitLab, and I don't mind if people send pull requests or create issues on those platforms. Basically, just don't put all your eggs in one basket, and make sure at least one basket is under your own control.
