That does not tie in with the OPs comments in this thread. I am happy for the OP to correct me, but thought I'd mention this.
- namdnay 5y agoThe plot thickens..
- mbesto 5y agoThere's always two sides to every story. I especially love the unfounded claims of "skeleton crew" as if this Stripe customer has any insight into how many people are actually working during the holidays.
- createmyaccount 5y agoHe’s talking about his own company.

- namdnay 5y agoMy suspicion is that they were hacking their way to growth by basically rewrapping Stripe until they got their own solution up. Stripe cottoned on, the game is up. That would explain the vague answers
- sigmaprimus 5y agoYou are probably right. In the Stripe terms of service it states: 4. Responsibilities and Disclosures to Your Customers (iv) not use Services to sell products or services in a manner that is unfair or deceptive, exposes Customers to unreasonable risks, or does not disclose material terms of a purchase in advance; and (v) inform Customers that Stripe and its global affiliates process Transactions (including payment Transactions) for you.
- namdnay 5y agohmmmm I don't see any mention of "Stripe" in their T&C.. https://help.pomelopay.com/en/articles/4469708-pomelo-pay-merchant-terms-and-conditions https://help.pomelopay.com/en/articles/4469708-pomelo-pay-me...

- DenisM 5y agoPlease don’t do this here. From the guidelines: Assume good faith. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- mattm 5y agoDisagree. For posts like this we should be skeptical. I've seen many posts from people saying how their Stripe, PayPal, etc. account got shut down and they're innocent. Suspiciously, they never give details about their business. But when someone manages to find info about their business it's always something shady.
- DenisM 5y agoHN is not the guardian of humanity against all scam, scum, and villainy; it's a place for thoughtful conversations. Assuming bad faith poisons not just this conversation but all the others. Many others in this thread remained curious rather than judgmental, and it's a great example to follow. If you still disagree with the rules you should email dang and request the rules to be changed.
- sigmaprimus 5y agoYou are right and I stand corrected, sometimes it is just too easy to become cynical in this trustless world we find ourselves. I will make an effort to tone down my comments in the future. I don't intentionally visit HN to pick a fight but rather to get informed and converse with other technically minded people.
- DenisM 5y agoThank you! HN just became a better place.
- elidourado 5y agoAnd if not he can just switch from Stripe to Pomelo Pay.
- thiscatis 5y agoThis is exactly what we’re doing but we unfortunately can’t do this in 48 hours.

- trollied 5y agoI'll add that the OP has probably triggered this by posting a huge loss in their annual accounts to Companies House on December 23rd. I suspect credit bureau feeds have played a part in this. Oh dear.
- berkut 5y agoCompany status in the UK seems to be 'dissolved': https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/12523109 https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/c... Seems to be active in Singapore though?
- trollied 5y agoIt’s Appfleet that have just filed accounts. (edit: and to reply to the person saying about numbers - turnover numbers stated are the payment processing fees, not the amounts actually transacted - see note 5 in the accounts)
- berkut 5y agoGood call: that's (effectively) last year's though, so it's possible things were better this year (although doesn't look good - and doesn't seem to match numbers OP was stating). Edit: actually, maybe not: the doc mentions March 2021 and Oct 2021 funding...
- youngtaff 5y agoThose numbers look ok (ish) Staff costs are roughly £900,000 of the £1.2M loss and they received investment of £5.5M These are for year two of their business so they’re not huge losses for a venture backed business and suspect they could have sustained the same level of loss year to Dec 31 2021 I tend prefer bootstrapped businesses but these accounts don’t look too bad
- thiscatis 5y agoPomelo uses an Icelandic acquiring bank (actually the same as Stripe used to use) as it has its own payment license and E-money license (regulated by the FCA). This is not for Pomelo.
