As a software developer, you may be called upon to perform some of these tasks
- burstmode 5y agoOK, so whats the problem ? I don't see a problem with 99% of that tasks.
- biehl 5y agoNo, the tasks are very realistic. I think the idea is to consider if your junior developers are prepared for the tasks (or if you as a junior developer, are).
- usrbinbash 5y agoThis is pure gold :D >Communicate the status of your work-in-progress to your manager in a way that both reflects your uncertainty and is useful for your manager. "Well, sir, let me put it this way: Can 9 women give birth to a child in one month? If so, then yes, you can have the feature next week!"
- livinglist 5y agoyou can’t learn everything from university and you shouldn’t expect it to. University is all about basic stuff, without a firm understanding of basics, you won’t get anywhere. Most of these tasks can and will and should be learned by working with other experienced professionals.
- quickthrower2 5y ago> Communicate the status of your work-in-progress to your manager in a way that both reflects your uncertainty and is useful for your manager. … and covers your arse If something is hard but looks like it should be easy to management, get one or two management trusted people in on it to agree that its hard, for example. This can be part of the communication.
- quickthrower2 5y agoUniversities cannot and shouldn’t try to teach tacit job knowledge IMO. Medicine excepted of course but we all know how long that degree takes! If industry wants this out of the gate then offer more paid internships and in those internships offer training, and offer graduates training.
- jmakov 5y agoBest interview questions/tasks ever!
- ncmncm 5y agoNone of these are taught in any CS program.
- bennysomething 5y agoWhy would anyone want to take a degree in this!? It would be horribly dull.
