In my opinion, there is a difference between living in a country where all salary information is assumed public (and all personal decisions taken accordingly), and a country where salary information was kept confidential from people around you until it was abruptly made public without notice. I am really trying to understand how both situations could feel the same to you but...I guess I would need some help convincing.
