Elon Musk criticised after China space complaint to UN
- rich_sasha 5y agoThe “OMG Elon Musk” angle is not so interesting. What is interesting is that the problem of space sharing has been really discussed as a discussion between friendly European/American powers, and annoying astronomers. But clearly China has something to say about it too, and means to counteract it too. I wonder if Starlink is a major trigger for development of another generation of anti-satellite weaponry (eg say one that doesn’t produce as much debris). It’s a perfect target: non-scientific, non-state-owned (so it’s only Elon who would whine), there’s plenty of them, and presumably very, very annoying to anyone trying to use the same orbital “slots” as them.
