This Is Why You Shouldn't Interrupt a Programmer (2013)

- codingdave 5y agoI am a coder. I get this 100%. At the same time, there is a big assumption that whatever the current task of a given coder is working on is more important than any possible interruption. I like to phrase it more like: "Be aware of the cost when interrupting a programmer, and make sure your interruption is more important than that cost." That isn't unique to coding either. That goes for basic interactions with our fellow human beings. If you are going to interrupt someone, you are putting your needs above their current task. Maybe that is appropriate, but take a moment to ask yourself the question before you act.
