Tell HN: GitHub is experiencing an undeclared outage
Disclaimer: I represent a GitHub competitor.
I maintain a system which provides some integrations with GitHub, and since our system has monitoring, we effectively monitor GitHub transitively and often notice GitHub outages before anyone else does.
About 15 hours ago, we started noticing that user CI jobs which fetch GitHub repositories were hanging indefinitely during their git clones (a rather expensive failure mode for us since it wastes a lot of CI cycles), and we also started to see increased error rates from the GitHub API. I tried to file a support ticket but their support desk is also experiencing issues (and I would really prefer to go back to email support, come on GitHub). A number of Twitter users are also reporting similar issues with GitHub Actions. GitHub's status page is silent on the matter.
Is anyone else having issues? Any GitHub employees around to investigate?
- robalni 5y agoA few minutes ago, github.com didn't load at all for me but now it works again.
- trevyn 5y agoYep, had a bunch of GitHub Actions daily CI runs stall out.
- orkj 5y agoHaving so many issues. Cloning repos, setting up containers for the actions. Downloading packages with the API, logging in to the container service. Just, everything really. Totally killing my efficiency today, I am sure I have retried dozens of CI jobs by now. And nothing on the status page.
