- mlyle 5y ago> And 4 doses for the coming Sigma variant? It seems never ending with these leaky vaccines On the other hand, these "leaky vaccines" have already prevented a massive amount of mortality. Yes, the duration and quality of protection, even boosted, against Omicron is unfortunate... but even 2 doses can still be expected to save a high number of lives from Omicron.
- chana_masala 5y agoI doubt that in the long term. The long term health effects of the vaccine are largely unknown but already looking grim.

- dang 5y agoCould you please stop posting flamewar comments to HN? You've been doing it a lot, unfortunately, and we ban that sort of account. - chana_masala 5y agoOK, thank you
- chana_masala 5y ago> no vaccine has ever caused a side effect after 9 weeks post administration in the history of modern medicine. I can't believe this is your actual position. It's so wild I have to believe you're trolling. Even Paul Offit would agree.
- dang 5y agoPlease do not post in the flamewar style to HN. We're trying to avoid that here. Your comment would be fine with just the second sentence. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html
- jacquesm 5y ago> The long term health effects of the vaccine are largely unknown but already looking grim This is not supported by any evidence.

- headsoup 5y agoNot longer term if they end up creating hotter variants through vaccine escape. Look into OAS, I think it's a good thing the latest variant came from Africa and not Israel
- chana_masala 5y agoGreat point regarding Africa vs hypervaccinated Israel. However I am unfamiliar with what you mean by OAS.
- headsoup 5y agoOriginal Antigenic Sin. See here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28479213/ https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28479213/ Here's also some analysis about this effect with Omicron, which seems honest about the limitations: https://boriquagato.substack.com/p/theres-something-antigenic-in-denmark https://boriquagato.substack.com/p/theres-something-antigeni...
- chana_masala 5y agoAh great, thank you for sharing!
- jbd28 5y agoWait until you see how many doses people need for tetanus, pertussis, and diphtheria (4 in 18 months with boosters every decade)
- chana_masala 5y agoWait until you see how bad the pertussis vaccine is at protecting against whooping cough! Are you up to date on your boosters for DPT? I don't know anyone who has maintained that.
