Questions for SF Progressives

- wyclif 5y agoA great Twitter thread that I'm not surprised at all got blackholed on HN.
- DangitBobby 5y agoDidn't a bunch of cities literally pay for bus tickets for their homeless to go off to California rather than help their own homeless population, and the homeless happily took them up on that because it won't kill them with cold weather? Anyway, this may be an absolute shocker, but the homeless problem might be a bit more complicated than "throw $18B at it and if that doesn't work, it's because progressives don't actually care about the homeless." It's like claiming that because the US throws away enough food to feed the whole world means that world hunger is a solved problem if not for greedy supermarkets throwing away spoilage. PS. Holy cow does Twitter have some dark patterns for unauthenticated users.

- CodeGlitch 5y agoBecause everything the progressives touch turns to s*t? Comedy, art, museums, schools, colleges, and yes even whole cities. Just like communism, it sounds great on paper but in practice it doesn't work. It doesn't suprise me that the epicenter of the whole movement is the first one to crumble. What can we do? Will we can push back against it at the risk of losing our livelihoods. This is going to be tough for a lot of people.
- arrakis2021 5y agoSF is a lost cause. Like the Soviet Union it will take generations for it to fully reset. They’re in the Brezhnev era now, where some people are starting to ask questions but are still mortally terrified of being de-personed
