I am surprised the word 'listen' was used only once in the entire article. There is so much to be gained by simply perking up those little ears of ours, and I would certainly say it is becoming anti-mimetic. Also, being flexible. You don't have to avoid using GPS all the time. But sometimes I find a fun challenge in seeing if my brain can figure out A to B on its own, etc...
