In Sweden, a vaccine passport on a microchip implant
- airhangerf15 5y agoPretty horrific. We're in hell. Anyone who gets this has either never read a single dystopian book, or they don't care, or think it couldn't happen now to us.
- blitzar 5y agoI read a single dystopian book, and I care. This is why I have never had a passport, drivers licence, bank account, utility, healthcare, education or had a job and paid taxes.
- emteycz 5y agoDon't act like a bodily implant is just the same as a plastic card with photo.
- blitzar 5y agoAnyone who gets a plastic card with photo has either never read a single dystopian book, or they don't care, or think it couldn't happen now to us.
- emteycz 5y agoI have read many dystopia books and haven't got the impression that plastic photo IDs could get us in too much trouble. Of course the underlying registry of citizens is a huge problem, but everyone is in it since their birth so the driving license or passport has nothing to do with it. Acting like obtaining a driving license is just the same as getting an implant with vaccination pass is just absurd.
- blitzar 5y agoNot seeing id cards as a problem is absurd.
- emteycz 5y agoSure, that's your opinion, and I mostly agree. But that your comparison is absurd is not just an opinion - ID cards and vaccination pass implants are so vastly different things that no comparison makes sense, these two can't be equal by any metric.
- blitzar 5y agoIf you cant see the comparision then I guess you just cant see it. Not everyone is cut out for it, there are free thinkers and sheeple.
- herodotus 5y agoI wrote a "quick and dirty" iOS app to use to show my Vaccine card. When I showed it to my family, they all wanted a copy. Turned out the easiest way to distribute it was to submit it to the App Store! All is does is allow you to "pin" up to nine images, always giving priority to the first image. It is free, and less painful than an embedded chip :-) (It is called "PhotoPin" https://apps.apple.com/us/app/photopin/id1591061748 https://apps.apple.com/us/app/photopin/id1591061748) I am currently working on version 2.1 which will minimize launch and bring-to-foreground times.

- bsaul 5y agothe great reset is a textbook example on how some crazy lunatics with the ego the size of a melon, trying to plan the future for the world's best interest, can trigger a wave of conspiracy theory with attrocious consequences ( such as old people not wanting to get vaccinated after having read too many tweets about 5G and vaccine). I was scared when i read this klaus schwab manifesto for the first time, realizing the "great reset" conspiracy theory actually had a much more solid ground than expected.
- kgin 5y agoUnless you really enjoy feeling like a cyberpunk, there is no reason to have a chip implanted to pull up a url instead of just using a bookmark on your phone. My suspicion is the 6000 number is the estimate of total number of people in the world who have ever implanted readable chips under their skin. Not the number of new people in Sweden who got them for the purpose of vaccine related urls.
- rsfern 5y agoThis is the most detailed summary I could find [0] Basically there’s a private company, dsruptive subdermals, that has made NFC implants for a while. You can put whatever on there, including I guess your vaccine records, if you want. I don’t see why you would do that instead of just using a phone, but some people put like their credit cards and whatnot on such chips I feel like a lot of the coverage (including the linked article) is a bit vague, maybe intentionally? It’s not like the government of Sweden is rolling these out 0: https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/swedish-covid-vaccine-pass-microchip-privacy-concerns https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/swedish-covid-vaccine...
- aww_dang 5y agoMicrochip implants have long been a staple of dystopian fiction. At the beginning of this latest round of usurpation of civil liberties in the name of emergency, we were repeatedly assured that vaccine passports and implanted vaccine passports were deranged conspiracy theories. Let's see how this trend continues to evolve. No, the Swedish government is not mandating implants at this time.

- boeingUH60 5y agoConspiracy theorists will have a field day with this one.
- adamrezich 5y agoat some point it almost seems like this is "the point," to keep escalating things by announcing blatant "conspiracy theorist bait," then ridiculing anyone who questions it, then moving the goalposts forward once again. there were plenty of reasons to be skeptical of rapid nationwide adoption of Chinese 5G tech into the United States' telecommunications infrastructure, but it pretty much got swept under the rug with, "what, you think 5G causes covid or something lol ok Alex Jones." now it is impossible to criticize any aspect of 5G without being positioned as a crazy person.
- emteycz 5y agoIt's not like the other side is without fault. Why criticize "5G" when you want to criticize a specific vendor of networking equipment and the problem has nothing to do with 5G itself?
- detaro 5y ago> there were plenty of reasons to be skeptical of rapid nationwide adoption of Chinese 5G tech into the United States' telecommunications infrastructure, but it pretty much got swept under the rug ... widespread bans of, and embargo against involved companies, and pushing for the same in allied countries, is "sweeping under the rug"?
