When travelling to Thailand and using the metro in Bangkok, you might notice some Thai people tend to move away from certain foreigners. Perhaps moving away from their seat shortly after a foreigner sits right next to them. I believe this is often caused by the sweat smell of foreigners. As the article states:
> Technically osmidrosis is the production of objectionably aromatic sweat, but many Asians think they’ve got a problem if they produce any odor when sweating — even an amount that would be considered normal in other races.
So if you don't want to offend people when travelling in Thailand (and I imagine other South-East Asian countries), I suggest keeping some deodorant at hand when moving around and in hot countries shower 2 times a day if possible.
I'd also like to note that Western woman seem to enjoy smelling a little bit of sweat from their boyfriends / husbands. At least based on my experience with my Thai girlfriend: doesn't seem to be the same around here.
By the way, apparently there's also some kind of stone deodorant (alum [0]) that can be bought here and is apparently effective in fighting sweat or its smell. I still have to try this style of deodorant some time, but as of yet haven't seen it in any shop ...
