This comment is just plain wrong.
It has been even studied and proven scientifically that for example psilocin, one of the main components of the psilocybe family of mushrooms promotes neuroplasticity and neuritogenesis (Neuritogenesis is a key process required during development of the mammalian brain). [1]
So, the completely reverse of what you said is true, mushrooms can actually promote repairing the brain and strengthen new, more healthy connections within it.
