This is an incredible post, and thank you for the mission critical work that you do. I'm always curious what other people's work lives are like -- can you talk a little bit about your job, the tasks you're working on today, and how the people you interact with on a day like today (customers, clients, coworkers) could make today a little easier / more fun?
- sandworm101 5y agoMilitary. Empty building. Sitting at a desk looking at computer screens. No cellphones allowed. I cannot leave my office because I might not hear my phone ring. Work involves talking to other people in basically the same situation at other bases. Not much real work going on. This is what we call "minimum manning". Everyone retains full capacity to act at any moment but don't actually do anything unless necessary.
- eslav 5y agoThank you for doing what needs to be done. Are you allowed to stream video or audio?
- sandworm101 5y agoAllowed is a loaded word. I am accessing HN through an unsecured network. We aren't "allowed" to stream because it can quickly overwhelm shared bandwidth but I do have that ability.
