How? The staircases are usually located at opposite sides of the building. The entire first floor would need to have been on fire.

How? The staircases are usually located at opposite sides of the building. The entire first floor would need to have been on fire.
- rcthompson 5y agoThere is one exit on the first floor, between the two staircases. The apartment on fire was the closest one to this common exit, directly between the two staircases and across the hall from the elevator, so the smoke went up both staircases equally.
