Investors desperately want a rotation into a new technology so they can get in on the ground floor of something. To that end, they are taking blockchain technology that trades unbelievably terrible efficiency for distributed and trustless computing and applying it to everything. While there are some use cases where this might be a worthwhile tradeoff (voting, for example), it’s a really bad tradeoff for almost everything else we use the internet for today.
