  my own external-to-the-vm monitoring tools that poll its availability for answering pings and ssh, and its own system uptime. note that I count the six nines as unplanned downtime, it's had less availability than that because I reboot it for a newer kernel and debian-stable system updates maybe every 4-5 months.
