They help me think about what I wanted to code and in some cases even helped me realize a simpler way or even find unexpected cases. I also find it very useful when reviewing code to know what I wanted to make and quickly jump to find the block I'm looking thanks to the header comments. Reading uncommented code is like having all the comments here on HN one after another without any separation or formatting, hard to search and understand.
