TSMC Hiring for AZ plant includes 12-18 month training in Taiwan
- mikece 5y agoI wonder how many will hesitate or not apply due to current political heat between Taiwan and China -- and the continual rumors that China is planning an amphibious invasion of Taiwan. Probably not so much that TSMC will have problems hiring the personnel needed for this project but I'll bet the concerned set is non-zero.
- philliphaydon 5y agoIf it wasn’t for the news I prob wouldn’t even be aware there was anything going on between China and Taiwan. People here in Taiwan are just enjoying life. But reading the news it’s obviously a bit scary.
- jameshush 5y agoAs a westerner living in Taipei the China/Taiwan relations don’t affect my day to day life at all. I love living in this country and highly recommend anyone to spend time here!
- xyzzy21 5y agoJust to be clear - it's akin to asking "How can you live in California with all the earthquakes? Aren't you afraid of California slipping into the Pacific?" Seriously. The martial harangues and belligerence form China has been going on since the 1950s. It's like the rain.
- ksec 5y agoThis has been going on for some time but we already heard plenty of issues from salary, working hours and benefits etc. But I do hope it works out in the end.
- Gunax 5y agoSounds like a great adventure. Would love to join if I were an engineering grad.
- futhey 5y agoThat's a nice little benefit. Tainan is an interesting city.
- xyzzy21 5y agoIt's nice enough but the Tainan TSMC site (Tainan Science Park) is pretty far from Tainan itself. Not as convenient as Hsinchu IMO. But that's were the latest nodes are.

- clove 5y agoTaiwan is an amazing place. I suggest anyone eligible to join the program and refuse employment after the training in Taiwan.
- xyzzy21 5y agoI lived in Taiwan for a few years. My company was bought by a Taiwanese company so I was still going there regularly until COVID. Of all the overseas places I'd be willing to relocate to, Taiwan is near the top of the list. I'd prefer Taipei over Tainan but the two are less than 2 hours apart by HSR. If you want job security in the USA, the TSMC plant is going to be better than MOST well-known brand named companies in the USA. I'd trust TSMC over Dell or HP for job security, for instance.
