Companies do precisely what capitalism gives them incentives to do. "Grift" is not a meaningful concept. A company can and will do anything the people managing it believe they can get away with that will increase their bottom line, yet, somehow, this behavior becomes unacceptable when it's a lowly worker doing it?
- WalterBright 5y agoHonorable people are honorable in spite of what other people do.
- actually_a_dog 5y agoYes, and that is a non sequitor.
- exBarrelSpoiler 5y agoDo you think it's honor that's keeping the peace? It's fear! Fear and blood!

- actually_a_dog 5y agoWell, let me put it bluntly to you, too, then: I don't give a fuck what you or people like you think. No company is entitled to own me body, soul, and spirit. I work the job I work solely because I have to in order to survive. If I did not, I would still be working, just not on the shit I'm working on now. And, yes, most companies are. That's been my experience, and that's how they have to be if they want to compete in the market.
- ghaff 5y agoThen you should probably work for yourself. Though of course you're still working for someone who writes you checks.
- actually_a_dog 5y agoYou seemed to miss the part where I don't give a fuck about what you think, so, let me underscore that.
- WalterBright 5y agoYou have made that perfectly clear.
