When you show people that hard work is just rewarded with more hard work, and isn't compensated at a rate that's worth it, what else do you expect? I wish I could find the link, but I read about a study which showed explicitly that this is true (the reward for hard work is more work), and, surprisingly, that hard workers didn't like that. Seriously, why would you bother?
