Anyone tried a set up like this with PFSense? Im looking to build a new router for home.
- justsomehnguy 5y agoDo you mind telling why you would want/need a 10Gb /router/ at home? IMO a 10Gb switch (maybe one with L3 ACL capatibility, eg PowerConnect 8024, which still can be found at a reasonable price on ebay) and a 1Gb router (whatever it would be) is the setup what would cover like 99% of even the most advanced home/homelab setups.
- rayiner 5y agoI have 3+1 gigabit internet at home from Comcast. AT&T is rolling out 5 gigabit in places.
- bronco21016 5y agoAnd the DOCSIS 3.1 is actually provisioned for 1.2 Gbps. On multi-stream connections that extra 200ish Mbps is nice. Consider that many in the US only get 200 Mbps. It’s like adding an additional broadband connection.
- thghtihadanacct 5y agoI dont 'need' the capability but I also want a to build up a router I can use for a good while. My download is close to 1Gb now but in the next few years could be higher. I was more concerned about the 4-port GbE and 4x4 WiFi 6 and a solid core. My main interest was if someone used PFSense on this hardware as that is what I would like to do.
