VC backed/owned projects are just one segment, communities often copy and relaunch any project with lopsided conditions (everything from low cost premines to block rewards going straight to VCs), to something that at least gives people a chance to use their own capital and resources at the bottom. so as the consumers and speculators have a choice, its juvenile to even get into this spat. Unincorporated community projects have often used code introduced by VC backed projects that have grown much bigger and had greater immediate impact than the VC subsidized codebase.
