Of course, I wouldn't blame you! I'm sure that if you persevere you'll find the right conditions to make something happen. You might try joining a local tech meeting. I often (or used to, prior to the pandemic) see people arrange to meet up in a cafe or coworking space, even if they're not working together or on similar kinds of projects, just to be able to get some input and camaraderie while working. However, I have found fellow developers to be among the most fearful/risk-averse people during the pandemic (sadly, without much (good) justification) so it may be difficult.
