Honestly, my take away from this as a pedestrian and a driver is that I should keep a very close eye on Teslas driving around me. How could I not do that after seeing this footage? I don't think it's a stretch to say that we have Elon Musk's ego to thank for this. A radar-equipped car that purports to be self-driving should not have hit a solid object in the middle of the road without so much as tapping the break. There are many other car manufacturers that ship this kind of emergency breaking functionality for which this accident wouldn't have occurred because they simply have a tighter QA process for car features.
