Is there any standard system for unique property IDs?
Is there any standard system for unique U.S. property IDs, similar to Zillow's proprietary zpid or the open source (managed by Google) plus codes (https://maps.google.com/pluscodes/)? I'm looking for better options than building my own ID system for a real estate startup. Thanks!
- mgav 5y agoFor example, the zipd for The White House (1600 Pennsylvania Ave) is "84074482_zpid" according to this listing: https://www.zillow.com/homes/1600-Pennsylvania-Avenue-NW,-Washington,-DC-20500_rb/84074482_zpid/ https://www.zillow.com/homes/1600-Pennsylvania-Avenue-NW,-Wa... Interestingly, Zillow's value estimate ("Zestimate") is $447 million.

This post - https://www.dcode.fr/open-location-code https://www.dcode.fr/open-location-code - describes how to convert from that code to GPS coordinates (GPS coordinates can be converted to/from a real-language address using the Google Maps Geocoding API (https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/geocoding/overview https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/geocoding/o...)

- mgav 5y agoIdea (in progress) to create an open source, uniform, easily-parsed* way to numerically identify every address *not Plus Codes I'm not sure yet about how to convert street names into numbers in a logical character-efficient way. Ideas & feedback welcome!
