Your story is very similar to mine (linkedin.com/in/mbutlitsky), I feel you ) I never had a CS degree, and never had any questions about it. May be because I was filtered out initially. Regarding current skills — I took a strong position of "better to have smart guy with wide industry background and understanding business side, and who can quickly dive into whatever stack you have, than average CS degree developer who's only professional experience is X years of Y" which is true, nowodays diverse background worth much more than CS degree itself, you just need to invest some time explaining to hiring managers why. And of course tune your CV and your story to focus on your achievements and strong sides as an engineer.
