I think at some level, if strong security / end-to-end encryption is not seamlessly baked into the products we already use, things like this may keep happening. I don't know too many emotional health professionals who are also very knowledgeable in cybersecurity, so people may just use the defaults. Which is why I like Signal and WhatsApp (to some extent) for doing it behind the scenes. I'm willing to bet most people have no idea how public email tends to be.
