Keep in mind that in the past do-gooders where trying to make the world a "better" place by burning witches (which was considered an act of compassion philanthropists engaged in) and in more recent times burning Jews
- sweetheart 5y agoHow is that relevant? Do you think that’s what people who are advocating for animal liberation are doing? If so, how?
- JohnWhigham 5y agoYou're getting lost in the specific example and missing their point: there's plenty of people that thought they were going to be on the Right Side of History despite doing heinous things judging by today's standards. It's all relative.
- sweetheart 5y agoJust because they thought they were right doesn’t mean they were, though… Yes, some people can be wrong.
- pawelmurias 5y agoFor one thing they harmed a lot of my friends by bullshitting them to switch to atrocious "diets". Turns out just dropping meat and replacing in via proteinless garbage is not very good for you. To further their cause of animal liberations a lot of lies and misinformation is spread. I often hear how meat is cause of global warming while in reality that's not the main part.
- sweetheart 5y agoLots of disinformation here. Let's start from the top: 1. Veganism isn't a diet, it's a moral belief system. Diet is merely one manifestation of that belief system. 2. "Proteinless garbage"? What is this, the 90s? We've moved beyond the silly misconceptions that protein = meat. Do your research, please. Hitting daily protein goals is absolutely trivial on a vegan diet. Seriously, it's stupidly easy. 3. Animal agriculture is an astounding contributor to global emissions. Kurzgesagt just did a great video on the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1Hq8eVOMHs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1Hq8eVOMHs We invite you into the 21st century, when you're ready. You'll have to leave the macho "I don't eat rabbit food" delusions behind, though.
- adriand 5y agoWhat a ridiculous comment. You could dismiss any act of goodness with that logic. “We built a shelter for homeless people and are feeding and clothing them.” “You know, the Nazis thought they were doing good things too.” I mean…seriously?
- pawelmurias 5y agoMy point is that a large part of the "socially involved" people I have met are often mean horrible people who are trying to show they are superior or super naive people who are willing to bend the truth. How was convincing my severely underweight friend to stop eating meat a good thing? Do they really think someone who looks like a fashion model (from the super skinny era) need less protein?
- sweetheart 5y agoI responded in more detail to another one of your comments here, but I'll address this one as well: Not eating animals !== not getting protein. Mere minutes of searching for information on the subject will show that. You're simply being lazy by holding onto such an outdated notion. I'm sorry your friends suffer from eating disorders (seriously, I am. I know some people are as well and it's painful), but don't blame veganism. The millions of healthy, strong, active vegans around the world are proof enough. Some basic research on the subject should cover the rest of your doubts.
